When is the next shot due?
The published puppy and kitten schedule, worked out against a date of birth. Every stage is a window rather than a day, because that is how the guidance is written.
Do not know it? Leave it blank and the schedule shows ages instead. A rescue with no history usually starts a fresh course anyway, whatever their age.
- 6 to 8 weeks
DA2PP (first dose)
- 10 to 12 weeks
DA2PP (second dose), Leptospirosis (first dose), Rabies (first dose), Bordetella
The second leptospirosis dose follows 2 to 4 weeks later. Rabies timing follows local rules and the vaccine leaflet, often from 12 weeks. Bordetella only if needed, usually for boarding, daycare or grooming.
- 16 to 20 weeks
DA2PP (final puppy dose)
At 16 weeks or older, because a mother's antibodies can stop earlier doses from working.
- 6 to 7 months
DA2PP (booster)
At 26 weeks or later, to catch any puppy the earlier doses missed.
- 12 to 16 months
Rabies (second dose), Leptospirosis (yearly booster)
The second rabies dose comes a year after the first.
After the first year, DA2PP is given at 3 years and then no more often than every 3 years. Leptospirosis needs a booster every year, and rabies follows local law and the vaccine's licence, which is 1 or 3 years. Ask your vet what applies where you live.
